Tara Marciniak, Chief Executive Officer
My name is Tara Marciniak and I am very excited to be leading this amazing company. I came to The Adventure Club in 2011 through a previous colleague of mine at Sylvan Learning Center. The Adventure Club peaked my interest because of the duration of time it had been providing care to families in the New River Valley. I also saw many opportunities to let my creative mind shine and the ability to impact the lives of hundreds of children. Educating children by creating strong thought processes is a passion of mine. My background is in English and Architecture. I used what I had learned to become a successful tutor and director of two Sylvan Learning Centers and two Huntington Learning Centers. From my experiences, I believe that children learn best when they are utilizing skills rather than memorizing facts alone. The Adventure Club allows children to stretch their minds and logical thinking skills through our team games, crafts, and reading times. We love working through the public schools to help every child have a successful elementary school experience. I, personally, enjoy creative writing, walking on the Huckleberry Trail, cupcakes, and spending time with my husband and kiddos. We look forward to getting to know you and your family through this school year’s journey. And please remember to visit our FaceBook page to see other families’ experiences through the years!
My name is Cathalene Turi, fondly known as “Cat.” I offer a level of professional experience that spans over three decades working in various fields such as tax accounting, corporate banking, home health, medical aesthetics & educator, and even once showed my love of dance as a ballroom instructor. I feel I offer a unique and wide-range of skill sets which enables me to contribute successfully to the role of Accounts Manager for our childcare programs.
While my attention to detail and organization are two of my stronger attributes, I am also insightful and dedicated. Showing genuine care to our families, I always wanting to go the extra mile to build strong & trusting relationships with those I come in contact with. This is essential and important to me, both professionally and personally. Married 28 years, my family and I moved to Virginia in 2004 to create a new life after the devastating Florida hurricanes of that year. Once avid antiquers, my husband and I vended regularly at the Piccadilly Antique shows in West Palm Beach, and still enjoy the “thrill of the find” in our spare time. We enjoy going to Blues Festivals, spending time at thome with our family (our daughter, 2 dogs, 4 cats, and a guinea pig!). I myself love watching movies, being crafty, and enjoying a fine glass of wine. My husband spends his spare time building and repairing electric guitars and enjoying the outdoors.
I’m always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and firmly believe being blessed is to bless others, and luck is just a 4 letter word. I’d like to extend a warm welcome to all families, and I’m ready to help make your financial investment a positive one, while our childcare professionals strive to make a positive investment in your child!
A Note from The Adventure Club: Cat has so many talents that go far beyond what any typical Account Manager would possess. The obvious qualifications are surpassed as well: a love of numbers, excel spreadsheets, data entry. . .but Cat is so much more than that. She is happy to work with families, learning about their children, their likes, hobbies, and needs in life. She often suggests billing policy changes that would truly make any family smile. Cat has a wonderful way of communicating the evolving needs and desires of families through their childcare journey with the rest of the Executive Team. We are truly proud to know that she has chosen to include The Adventure Club in her career path and look forward to many successful years to come!
Beth Phillips, Human Resource Manager
Hello Adventure Club families, I am Beth Phillips and I am the Human Resources manager for the Adventure Club’s before and after school program. I have an associate’s degree in General Studies with a concentration in Childhood development. My five year plan includes finishing my bachelor’s degree to help build my professional career here at the Adventure Club. I am also in charge of quality control by making sure the sites are at their very best 100% of the time! I have worked in many different levels of the program and have been actively growing in the company since 2007. My first step in the company was as a support staff member at the Falling Branch location. Since then I have had the pleasure of being at each site at one point in time. In 2010 I had the honor of becoming the Site Manager at the Belview Elementary school location; I was the Site Manager there for two school years. During this time I married my now husband Daniel, and since then we have been blessed with a beautiful handsome baby boy who is now one year old. I left the company for a brief period to build our home and to share that special time with our baby. In January of 2015 I stepped back into my new and current position of Human Resources Manager. It is such an honor to be the one who hires staff and professionals to be a part of our children’s lives. I also feel privileged to be in charge of making certain that the school sites are planning activities and visitors for our children and that everyone is happy and safe. My professional and educational background have plunged me into this position and I enjoy working in my passion and specialties. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you during your experience with us!
A Note From The Adventure Club: Beth is the heart of this company. Her attention to detail, creativity, and ability to lead by example is unparalleled. She is truly a problem solver and sees any challenge through until it surpasses the highest expectations. We can all breathe easier knowing that Beth is on our team. She will notice any detail that anyone else misses. Beth has a huge impact on sculpting The Adventure Club into the best program for children: whether they need the care because mom and dad are at work, or whether they need a fun place to stay to gain more socialization skills and play awesome team games and create crafts.
